Dr. Maria Rallis provides psychotherapy for families, children, adolescents, and adults. She also does geriatric psychological assessments in several long-term nursing facilities. Dr. Rallis earned her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Ottawa in 1993. She became licensed to practice psychology in the state of Pennsylvania in 1998. In the role of psychotherapist and supervisor, Dr. Rallis has worked in many different settings, including preschools, school districts, and residential treatment facilities for children and adolescents. She has done research in social skills and social competence.
Dr. Rallis specializes in the treatment of childhood and adolescent mental health disorders. Further areas of specialty include the treatment of child and adult depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, personality disorders, and psychopharmacology. Issues of particular interest include self-esteem, self-reliance, and cultural values.
In treating her clients, Dr. Rallis uses a Cognitive Behavioral approach. Her goal is not only to help clients gain personal insight and develop coping skills but to do this in the context of the client's spiritual beliefs, values, and life purpose.
